Who is Rico Jemmott and why E. J. Training?
Rico was born in Panama, an
attended Panama University. In 1977 he moved to the United States to
pursue is childhood dream of becoming a police officer, now with 16 years of law enforcement experience, Rico is all too familiar with the trauma of young women who, just moments before, were victims of sexual assault and abuse. As a father of two teenage daughters and a young son, Rico is concerned about the safety of his family living in a city where the crime rate ranks highest in the nation. The growing fear that this type of trauma could someday affect his home was the incentive necessary to boldly transfer his knowledge of self-defense to women.
As a University Police Lieutenant, he ardently teaches Sexual Harassment, Assault and Rape Prevention (S.H.A.R.P.) to college co-eds with the hope that someday the number of violent crimes against women will dramatically decrease. His desire to empower women to protect themselves comes from the realization that the best defense for women at the moment of attack is understanding a few simple yet dependable escape techniques that prove effective even when confronted with someone twice their size.
